Morning visit to Wat Chedi Luang Temple
Wat Chedi Luang opens up at 6 AM and we reached the temple well in morning to find only monks, morning sunlight and few pigeons. We always recommend to visit all temples early morning. You not only beat the day crowd but also get a chance to observe the morning rituals of the temple.
Main Vihara of Wat Chedi Luang Temple
Main Vihara of the temple has a standing Buddha statue known as Phra Chao Attarot, with two disciples on either side. You can sit in peace and can offer your prayers to Buddha in the big hall. Photography is allowed inside almost all the temples in Thailand, so you can take pictures with extra caution that you do not disturb the peace of the place of the disciples in prayer.
Monk Chat in the Temple Compound
Temple has a sprawling compound and you will enjoy a walk around the temple especially in the morning peaceful atmosphere. During the day time, you can also have chat with monks about general topics related to Buddhism, Thailand and their life. Monk Chats are organized every day.
Lak Meuang or City Pillar inside the temple is another point that you can quickly visit to. The pillar, popularly known to locals as Sao Inthakin is within a Mandapa. Only men are allowed to enter the pavilion to view the pillar.
Wat Chedi Luang Dress Code
In General, for all temples of Thailand, you may refer the following image for dress code. Though this code is not very strictly enforced, still we should be respectful to people’s sentiments.
