Turkey has always been on top of our must-visit list. Sitting right in the center of Asia and Europe, Turkey offers a unique cultural amalgamation. While applying for our Turkey Visa, we realized that Turkey does not have a Visa on Arrival facility and process of applying Turkey Visa through a Consulate/ Authorized Application Center is quite tedious. This is when we found about Turkey E-Visa facility.
Turkey offers E-Visa to citizens of selected countries provided they meet pre-conditions (Read Eligibility Criterion below). Turkish E-Visa Application process is pretty smooth and also cost effective. We have covered complete process and experience of applying Turkish E-Visa online in this blog.
Website to Apply Turkey E-Visa?
Turkey E-Visa is an online Visa that you can get through an online form submission and also by paying Visa fees . This is a primarily single entry visa for most of eligible countries. There are few countries which are eligible for Multiple Entry Visa. You can immediately download your Visa post online application and also get it over email. Please carry a print out of your E-Visa while travelling to Turkey.

Validity of Turkey E-Visa varies country to country (max 90 days stay within a period of 180 days). You can go to Visa Application Page and fill in your country details to check validity. For Indian Citizens, Turkey E-Visa allows a Single Entry 30 days stay within 180 days of Visa Eligibility.
Who is Eligible for Turkey E-Visa
Citizens from 108 Countries ( List of Countries) are eligible for Turkey E-Visa. Out of these, citizens of 38 countries (List of Countries) are eligible for Multiple Entry Visa. Even if you are from one of the above eligible countries, there are certain criterion that you need to fulfill to be eligible for applying Turkey E-Visa.
- You have a valid Supporting Document (Valid visa OR valid residence permit from one of the Schengen Countries, USA, UK or Ireland). E-visas are not accepted as supporting documents. This is waived off for citizens of some countries like China and Australia.
- You can prove that you hold a return ticket, hotel reservation and at least 50 $ per each day of my stay. For some countries, this is specific to airlines e.g. for Kenyan citizens, they should have a round-trip ticket with Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Onur Air or Atlasglobal Airlines.
- My passport covers the period that I will be staying in Turkey. For few countries like Kenya, requirement is 6 month passport validity.
So, eligibility requirements vary from country to country. You may go to Turkey E-Visa application web-page and select your country and date of arrival. Eligibility requirements will be displayed to you as per your country on next page.
Why should you apply for Turkish E-Visa Online
This is pretty fast and cheaper mean to get Turkish Visa. As I had US Visa, so I applied for Turkish Visa online while my wife did not have US Visa and thus we had to apply for her through Consulate. Compared to Consulate application, we see following big benefits with E-Visa process –
- Saves you time – Consulate Application requires hefty paper work (bank statement, leave letter, notarized address proof, application filled in only capital letters etc).It took multiple days for us to arrange for these documents and then another half day at application center. While, applying and getting Turkish E-Visa online is just 10 minutes process and you can download E-Visa immediately.
- Saves you money – While E-Visa fee varies from country to country, still in our case (application in India), we found that by applying at consulate center, we spent ~3 times of E-Visa Fee (~ $80 Additional compared to E-Visa Fee)

We would even suggest to apply for US Visa in case you are planning a US visit ( A B1/B2 US Visa remains eligible for 10 years) and use that to get Turkish E-Visa rather than spending energy and money in applying through consulate.
Turkey E-Visa Fees
E-Visa fee varies from country to country. You may go to Turkey E-Visa application web-page and select your country and date of arrival. This will display Visa fee for your country. For Indian citizens, Turkey E-Visa fees is $43. There is an additional $1.5 Processing Fee. Once you submit all your details, you can pay Visa fee online using multiple payment options (including debit/credit card).
Turkey E-Visa Application Process
Here is the step-by step guide for applying Turkish E-Visa. We have elaborated Turkish E-Visa Process for Indian Citizens. Process remains the same for all eligible countries, however fee and eligibility criterion will change. Please check for the same while applying for your application.
Step 1: Visit Turkey Electronic Visa Application web-page and go through E-Visa Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to understand the process.
Step 2: Start Application Process by selecting your country on Visa Application Page – https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/apply/
Step 3: Date of Arrival – On next page, submit arrival date in Turkey. Basis your selection of country on previous page, this page will also display -i) your visa fees ii) Single/Multiple Entry eligibility iii) Validity period of Visa (180 days in below case) and iv) allowed period of stay (30 days in below case)
Step 4: Once you enter Date of Arrival and submit this form, it takes you to the next page that displays the Pre-requisites for getting Turkey E- Visa. These conditions can vary basis your country e.g. for Indian citizens, following are the conditions to get Tukey E-Visa.
Step 5: If you meet all the pre-conditions then check all of them and submit to go to next page. You are asked your personal details on next page with respect to your Turkey Travel.
Step 6: Once you submit all details, you get a message for successful submission of your application and also receive an email with payment link for your visa fees.
Step 7: You will receive a message over email to confirm your email address. Clicking on the same will take you to the payment page where you can pay for your Visa fees online using credit/debit cards and other payment methods.
Step 8: Once you complete your payment, you can immediately get a link to download your Turkey E-Visa along with a payment receipt. You will also get an email with a link to download your Turkey E-Visa.
