From an array of options that Hampi offers, Sanapur lake built at foot hills is certainly worth a walk offering calmness combined with spectacular sunrise views in morning. We were staying at Gowri Resort at Hampi, just next to the lake and thus decided for a morning walk on the road spiraling around Sanapur lake. This road finally moves parallel to a water canal emerging from the lake itself.

There was no one in the morning except a couple taking pictures, a father – son strolling with their dog and us going on an unknown path and yes a group of langours playing on the road side.
As we moved on the road around Sanapur Lake, we reached to the point from where water was being released in big canal. A road went ahead with canal on one side and hills and boulders on another side. On our way, we found few cyclists who were wrapping up post their morning cycling expedition. At times, some locals zipped past us on their bikes and that was the only traffic on our route. It was spectacular as we stood by canal side watching colors from sunrise spreading on paddy fields and green, red and yellow slowly emerging out of the darkness.
We walked for approximately 2.5 KMs and the returned taking the same path along the lake. As we reached to the starting point, we saw a small stream of water flowing down to the paddy field. We walked down out of curiosity (With caution as there was no defined path).
Our efforts of getting down even without a path paid off as we had more beautiful views waiting for us, the best being the hanging nests of Baya bird.
We further walked down along the stream and paddy fields spoiling our shoes in mud as we went on exploring our path through grass and water to reach Gowri Resort where we have been staying.
We loved our morning walk around Sanapur Lake wandering on an unknown path enjoying all elements of nature in pure silence.
