Natural Trail to Mork Fa Waterfall

After parking our scooter and purchasing tickets, we soon set on the natural trail leading to waterfall. Though we took the trail along the river flow but from the park office, you have a choice of two walking routes to the falls. There is a nature trail through the jungle which you may follow and while returning, may follow the route by the river. Ask more about these trails at reception or from security guard at entrance.

Walking along the river was calm and peaceful as the only sound you could hear was that of forest or water. It took us around 30 minutes one way to reach to waterfall as we walked slowly clicking pictures and soaking the beauty of nature. Here are the pictures of the trail to give you a glimpse of this natural beauty.

As you keep on walking on the trail, sound of waterfall keeps intensifying and trail ends at the waterfall giving you a glimpse of how huge it is. Multiple water streams falling from a high cliff welcome you with mist wrapping up your face and body as you approach waterfall. Crystal clear water falls to the swamp where you can take bath or even swim and then flows down into a stream. During our visit, a couple was having their pre-wedding shoot at waterfall. We stood at a distance and enjoyed the magnificence and beauty of this natural wonder.

Though you may take bath at this waterfall but this for us was more to stand at a distance and enjoy the magnificence. We skipped taking bath as we had already spent 3 hours bathing at  Bua Tong Sticky Waterfalls. As per Chiang Mai Airport website, If you want to spend a night at the waterfall, a campsite and four houses are offered for them but it should be reserved in advance by contacting Doi Suthep-Doi Pui National Park.

How to reach Mork Fa Waterfall

Mork Fa Waterfalls are enroute Pai from Chiang Mai and Chiang Dao. Around 70 kilometers from Chiang Mai, it will get quite expensive for you to book a taxi just for visiting these waterfalls. You may explore if Chiang Mai to Pai Bus can drop you on 1095 Highway and from there you can walk 2 kilometer inside to reach waterfall (but still it would be too much efforts).

We will recommend to make a quick stop over at these water-falls if you are headed to Pai – like us exploring Mae Hong Son Loop on a scooter.

Mork Fa Waterfall Entry Fee

  • Foreigners: Adult: 100 Baht, Child: 50 Baht
  • Thai Nationals: Adult: 20 Baht, Child: 10 Baht
  • Parking Fee: Bicycle: Free, Bike: 20 Baht, 4 Wheeler: 30 Baht, 6 Wheeler: 100 Baht, Bus: 100 Baht

We found multiple reviews of people feeling unhappy about high entrance fee. If you will ask us, we feel that it was worth the money. With free entry and its uniqueness, Bua Tong Sticky Waterfalls scores the highest and if you have to chose one out of two, we will recommend a visit to Bua Tong Sticky Waterfalls. But out of all other waterfalls that we visited in Thailand, Mork Fa Waterfall scores quite high and thus would recommend a visit even though there is an entry fee.

Tips for Mork Fa Waterfalls Visit

  • Carry Swimwear or spare clothes – As you would get tempted to bathe or get wet
  • Change Room – There are clean bathrooms and change rooms at the entrance
  • Rocks remain slippery – Be cautious for not getting hurt
  • Natural Trail would require good 30 minute walk, so take a call for elderly people and children

Opening Hours:  Daily 08:00 am. – 04:00 pm.
