Aero India Show, Bangalore: Planes, Pilots and Thrill

Aero India Show has a mix of all, be it the thunderous sound of the planes taking off or the dare-devil stunts being performed by the pilots in the sky. Lying on the ground and watching in the sky, you get completely mesmerized and awed by these aircrafts as they zip through even before you could blink.

Considering that it would get sunny and crowded for the afternoon show, we decided to leave early and watch the morning show at 9 AM. To our surprise, even at 8 AM, all roads leading to the Aero Show were jam packed and we reached just in time despite leaving almost 2 hours ago from our home. People had lined up next to the fence of the runway to watch aircrafts taking off but you could comfortably sit in the ground and watch planes maneuvering through the sky.

As soon as we reached the venue, we were welcomed by the extravaganza of colourful Bi-planes. When we looked closer, we were surprised to see girls sitting on top of the wings and not only sitting but also performing stunts up there in the sky 🙂 . Dressed in yellow, these were the Flying Cats of the Scandinavian Airshow team.

We were just trying to recover from this awesomeness and suddenly we heard a thunderous sound. And zips past over our head Tejas and then F-16 fighter aircrafts in a straight line leaving behind a white smoke trail. What a speed and agility !! One moment, they were flying straight and the next moment, went up to disappear in the sky and then turned back to dive straight towards the ground circling along its axis.

Next was the multirole combat aircraft Rafale and what a roar and speed did this machine have!!

Pulsa Trainer Plane, basic training aircraft of Indian Air Force was the next. But the real show was stolen by evergreen Surya Kiran formation as they entered in a shock wave formation of six beautifully red and white striped aircrafts.

By the way, we had never expected that helicopters would be the show-stopper of Aero India Show 2017. We soon realized our mistake as these yellow and red coloured helicopters started dancing in the sky taking a sharp u-turn and swirling around at will. No doubt, this team has performed in multiple countries and also won Best Formation Award in Berlin Aero Show.

Tickets for Aero India Show, Bangalore

There were two categories of tickets for 2017 show. We are putting details to help visitors for future shows –

  • You could buy a Rs 600 ticket just for experiencing the air display. With this ticket, you could enter through gates 9-11 at ADVA (Air Display Viewing Area) only. In case, you also want to visit the exhibition area, an all inclusive ticket cost was Rs 1500 and entry was from gates 1-5.
  • Exhibition area had display stalls from all renowned defence companies and you could view the prototypes of their aircrafts and other defence systems. In the open area were different aircrafts on display, few of which were also allowing people to sit in cockpit.
  • We initially reached gates 9-11 and this venue provided the best views of the air display. Just to view Exhibition, we walked 4 kilometers to reach gates 1-5 but were not much impressed with the exhibition and even the view from this side was quite obscure.
  • We will recommend Rs 600 ticket. Better enjoy air show from ADVA grounds providing best views and you may skip spending extra for Exhibition area.

Traffic Jams: all roads to Air Force Station and around remains jam packed. So leave from your home taking at least 2 additional hours in account else you may miss the show.

Travel Date: 18th February 2017
